IFB Details 2012 Catalogue, Two New BBC Dramas
03 Feb 2012 : By Ciara Drohan
Life's a Breeze
The Irish Film Board (IFB) has announced strategic plans for 2012 with their production catalogue including 18 upcoming feature films. Projects such as Lance Daly’s ‘Life’s a Breeze’ starring Fionnuala Flanagan; Lenny Abrahamson’s ‘What Richard Did’; ‘Sanctuary’ by Norah McGettingan; ‘Love Eternal’ by Brendan Muldowney and Neil Jordan’s vampire thriller ‘Byzantium’ which wrapped in Ireland this week to name but a few.

Chief Executive of the Irish Film Board, James Hickey, outlined the organisation's strategic goals and announced details of two major UK projects that will produced here in the first quarter of the year.

As previously announced on IFTN, the BBC comedy ‘Vexed’ is a 6 x 60 minute comedy series for the BBC. ‘Ripper Street’, an eight part series also for the BBC is to be filmed in Dublin with Irish production company Element Pictures co-producing. The IFB says both titles will result in employment for 350 cast and crew and account for an €11m investment in the industry.

Major upcoming IFB supported feature film projects that are going into production in 2012 include ‘Song of The Sea’ by Tom Moore (The Secret of Kells), ‘Run and Jump’ by Oscar nominated director Steph Green and ‘At Swim Two Birds’ to be directed by actor Brendan Gleeson.
