Irish actor Kevin Ryan (‘RAW’, ‘Tripping Tommy’) is to star in a lead role in new BBC America drama series ‘Coppers’ which is to start filming later this month.
The series, which was created by Oscar winning director Barry Levinson (Bugsy, Rain Man), Tom Fontana (Oz, St. Elsewhere) and Will Rokos (Monster’s Ball, Southland) is an immigrant drama about an Irish cop working in 19th century New York City and plot lines relating to the Civil War will also permeate the series. It starts filming in Toronto, Canada on 23rd January.
Ryan will play Detective Francis Maguire, starring alongside Tom Weston-Jones (Spooks, World Without End) who plays Kevin Corcoran, Canadian actor Kyle Schmid (Gravy Train, The Thaw) , English actress Anastasia Griffith (Once Upon a Time, Royal Pains) and German actress Franka Potente (The Bourne Supremacy, Run Lola Run). The series is expected to premiere on BBC America in the summer.
