‘Capital D’ and ‘All Island School Choir Competition’ presenter Anne Cassin is to step in to replace veteran presenter Michael Ryan when he officially retires from RTÉ programme ‘Nationwide’ in the New Year.
‘Nationwide’ is a programme which looks at communities around Ireland, broadcasts every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7.00pm on RTÉ One
Cassin will co-present with programme regular Mary Kennedy. Anne has worked as a newscaster with RTÉ since 1998. As a result of the new appointment and “financial constraints” within RTÉ ‘Capital D’ will not be in the scheduled in 2012 and as of yet RTÉ have not confirmed a replacement for the slot. However, a spokeswoman for RTÉ has told IFTN that ‘Nationwide’ will aim to cover more Dublin area stories within its programme remit.
