Irish comedian Neil Delamere’s (The Panel, Republic of Telly) new two part series on RTÉ One, ‘The Only Viking In The Village’, will air on Tuesday 29th November at 10.15pm.
In the 2x45 minute series Neil will uncover the fact and fiction about the Vikings, who he claims as his ancestors. He will take in the Dublin Viking Splash Tour, travel from Ireland to Lejre in Denmark, to a historical Viking village, to live with modern day Vikings as he attempts to eat, dress, sail and fight like a Viking.
Before undertaking his journey from Ireland to in Denmark, Neil takes to the standup stage in Waterford with his own comedic musings about the Vikings and he also gets first hand experience of a Viking ship.
The series was directed by Conor Morrisey (Last Night, MacIntyre’s Underworld), produced by Anne Heffernan (Irish Tenors and Friends) and executive produced by Bernadine Carraher (Messenger Boy; Christie Hennessey, Irish Tenors and Friends) of Mind the Gap Films. Director of photography was Fergal O Hanlon (Yu Ming Is Ainm Dom, Every Second Sunday) and it was shot on HD cam.
The series, which was shot during the summer, was funded by the BAI and RTÉ. Post was completed at Screenscene by Martha Meyler (Hold on Tight, Crossword). The first part of the series will be broadcast on RTÉ One on Tuesday, November 29th at 10.15pm.
