Filmbase and TG4 have announced details of the 5th round of Lasair scheme, a funding award for short films made in the Irish language.
The fund aims to support six short films with funding and facilities of up to €20,000 for each. The theme of this year’s award is Geal Gáire. The idea behind the theme is to encourage new filmmaking talent to brighten the spirits of the viewing audience.
Other films made with the help of the Lasair award short ‘Yu Ming is Ainm Dom’, which was written and directed by Daniel O’ Hara for the 2003 round of awards and has gone on to win over 40 international awards since.
The scheme is open to all forms including, drama, comedy, animation, short sketches or fictional films. This round of the scheme is open to full time students who were ineligible for previous rounds and also takes applications from Northern Irish applicants.
The application process is open until Tuesday 10th of January 2012. For more details on the scheme visit the Filmbase website here
