‘Stitches’, a horror film about a fed-up kid’s party clown, is to start filming in Dublin before the end of the year.

The story follows Richard ‘Stitches’ Grindle, a kid’s birthday party clown, who has a fatal accident at the hands of a group of particularly nasty children and who years later comes back to exact his revenge on the now teenagers.

The film is to be directed by Conor McMahon (Disturbed, Dead Meat), who also wrote the script. Cast so far includes British comedian Ross Noble and teen actor Tommy Knight (The Sarah Jane Adventures, Doctor Who).

The film will be produced by Fantastic Films, in partnership with Chicago based production and distribution company MPI media group. MPI made a bid on the film at the American Film Market on Tuesday of last week. MPI has produced such horror films as ‘The House of the Devil’ and ‘Hatchet 2’. The Irish Film Board will also be supporting the film.

The film is expected to go on theatrical release in the U.S.
