Proudly supported by the Offaly Local Development Company, The OFFline Film Festival, to be held in Birr, Co. Offaly from October 13th-16th, is returning for its second year, and is seeking entrants for its short filmmaking competition, which will take place during the festival.
The short film competition has a prize-fund of €4,000 and the winner not only takes home €1500 but also gets a guaranteed slot in the 2012 Galway Film Fleadh. The competition will see filmmakers making an entire short during the duration of the festival. Equipment, facilities, locations and a volunteer database will be available to participating teams in the short film competition. Deadline for applications to the Short Film Competition at the OFFline Film Festival is September 26th.
The OFFline Film Festival has also teamed up with the OfflineOnline competition, which will see contestants pitching short film ideas. The winning pitch will be provided with €1,000 funding, mentoring and support to make a short film.
The OFFline Festival is also hosting workshops, in association with Filmbase and Offaly Local Development Company. Hands on Sound Recording for Film and Television with Noel Quinn (Michael Collins, Veronica Guerin, The Honeymooners, The Hijacking of the Achille Lauro) took place on September 15th and 16th.
Upcoming workshops include an intensive overview of technical and creative skills to create film and video segments for online distribution on September 20th-23rd, facilitated by Tanya Doyle, Producing a Low Budget Film, which will take place on 14th October in Birr and workshops on how to pitch your idea as part of the Offline Online competition.
