The Northern Irish feature film ‘Hunger’ has received three nominations for the 21st European Film Awards while the shorts ‘Frankie’ and ‘Joy’ have all been nominated for the European Film Academy Short Film award.
‘Hunger’ nominations include nods for Best Director for Steve McQueen, Best Actor for Michael Fassbender (300) and the film is nominated for the European Discovery Award.
Two Irish have won a Prix UIP and are thus nominated for the European Film Academy Short Film 2008. These include; ‘Joy’ (Prix UIP Rotterdam) by Joe Lawlor and Christine Molloy ‘Frankie’ (Prix UIP Berlin) by Darren Thornton.
The nominations were announced at the Seville European Film Festival by the European Film Academy and EFA Productions. The 1,800 EFA Members will now vote for the winners which will be presented during the Awards Ceremony on 6 December in Copenhagen.
