IFTA 2011 Submission Deadline, Friday 19 Nov
16 Nov 2010 :
The submission deadline for the 8th Annual Irish Film & Television Awards is fast approaching. Submissions are invited for categories in film, television, shorts and animation and the deadline for receipt of submissions is Friday, November 19th at 5.30pm. Dublin’s Convention Centre will play host to the 8th Annual Awards ceremony which will on Saturday, 12 February 2011.

The Irish Film & Television Awards are open to talented craftspeople working within the film and television industries in Ireland, as well as those working in the international arena. The winners of the 8th Annual Irish Film and Television Awards will be decided by an official Irish Film and Television Academy vote.

The IFTAs are recognised as a highlight of the Irish film and television events calendar. Last year’s awards ceremony saw Conor McPherson’s ‘The Eclipse’ win in the Film category whilst Jim Sheridan won in the group of Director Film for his work on ‘Brothers’.

Where acting is concerned the Irish Film and Television Academy Members lauded the work of actors including Saoirse Ronan for her role in Peter Jackson’s ‘The Lovely Bones’, Colin Farrell and Dervla Kirwan for their respective roles in Neil Jordan’s ‘Ondine’ and Robert Downey Jr for his lead role in ‘Sherlock Holmes’.

Other winners in 2010 included Frank Deasy for his script work on ‘Father & Son’; Consolata Boyle for the costumes she created for ‘Cheri’ and Mairead McIvor for her editing of the feature film, ‘Savage’.
