Channel 4 Wants ‘iCandy’ | The Irish Film & Television Network

‘iCandy’, a 30 minute pilot, will show on Channel 4 as part of the broadcaster’s forthcoming Comedy Lab season, a new talent initiative that has previously helped launch the careers of Peter Kay and Jimmy Carr.

The pilot was written by Liam Hourican, David Crann (Ape) and David Stone and features Hourican playing original characters, including a Dutch mountaineer with a taste for human flesh and a TV lifecoach with a murky past. Outlandish impressions of well-known personalities also feature, including ‘When Louis Theroux Met Hitler’ and ‘Peter Stringfellow’s Community Outreach Programme for teenagers’.

‘iCandy’ was shot entirely on location in and around Belfast and was funded from Northern Ireland Screen supported by Invest NI and part funded by the European Regional Development Fund.

’iCandy’ is produced by Chris Curley (Alan Carr’s Celebrity Ding Dong) and Directed by Ed Tracy (Fonejacker). Green Inc Executive Producers are Chris Jones and Stephen Stewart. Channel 4 Commissioning Editor for Comedy, Shane Allen, greenlit the project.

Managing Director Stephen Stewart tells IFTN “We’re very excited that Shane and his Channel 4 team have decided to launch their new comedy lab season with iCandy – Liam is a rare talent who can write and perform highly original comedy”. Comedy Lab is a new talent initiative that gave birth to the careers of stars such as Peter Kay, Jimmy Carr and the Fonejacker Kayvan Novak.

’iCandy’ will broadcast on Channel 4 at 11.05pm on Monday, April 19th.
