Kudos & Generator Team to Create NI TV Production Co. | The Irish Film & Television Network

Developing original scripted TV projects which will span across a wide variety of genres including drama, children’s television and comedy, all projects will be filmed in Northern Ireland with local crew and talent.

Generator founders Mark Huffam, who is currently busy in The Paint Hall, Belfast on the set of 'Your Highness' and Simon Bosanquet will run the new business, which is set to open its doors on August 3rd. Former Baby Cow exec Vanessa Haynes has been hired to spearhead project development locally, while Simon Crawford Collins, joint managing director of Shine Group-owned Kudos Film & Television, will oversee the venture in London.

Backed by BBC Northern Ireland through the corporations regional development initiative, with supplementary funding coming via Northern Ireland Screen and Generator, the main aim of the venture is to establish a sustainable TV production infrastructure in Northern Ireland.

Kudos joint managing director Dan Isaacs said negotiations had been happening for approximately a year and gained momentum during the production of NI Screen-backed BBC One drama ‘Occupation’.

“To build an infrastructure you need returnable series, so BBC NI asked if we would help,” he said. “We thought it was a good idea but wanted to find a local partner. Generator benefits from our experience and we benefit from its local knowledge. We don’t have a regional base so it also helps us meet broadcasters’ regional quotas.”
