The Section of Creative Media in DKIT has some places remaining on two new year-long part-time certificates in 3D for Games and 2D/3D Digital Animation Production, starting in late September 2014.

Both courses will be delivered in the newly-renovated Carrolls building on the DKIT campus (45mins from Dublin Airport) with industry standard Creative Media facilities (see more on DKIT’s facilities here).
Certificate in 2D/3D Digital Animation Production
This programme aims to provide students with a strong grounding & transferable skills in Digital Animation Production processes and techniques for both 2D & 3D.
The 40 credit, one-year part-time programme will provide participants with the required knowledge, skills and confidence to assist them in gaining employment in the Digital Animation Production industry.
The proposed programme will equip participants with skills in both 2D and 3D computer animation, team work and project management. Students will gain vital software skills in programs such as Adobe PhotoShop, Illustrator, After Effects and Flash, along with 3D Studio Max and Final Cut Pro.
Certificate in 3D for Games
This course will allow participants to develop new key foundation skills in 3D design and implementation that are required to begin a career in the Games sector. The 40 credit, one-year part-time programme will provide participants with the required knowledge, skills and confidence to assist them in gaining employment in the Games sector.
The proposed programme will equip participants with skills in 3D modeling, animation, game concept development, project generation & management, along with key game theory principles. Students will gain vital software skills in programs such 3D Studio Max, Photoshop and the Unreal Development Kit.
In addition, as DKIT has a long running Games Development course, participants have access to a wealth of experience, skills and knowledge within the School of Informatics & Creative Arts, where this course will be based.
Both courses also have a 2-week work placement module at the end where students will go on placement within the Industry. This allows participants to gain relevant industry experience, develop contacts in the industry and have greater insight into the sector they are planning to enter.
