VFX: Script to Screen - Call for Applications

VFX: Script to Screen is calling for producers and directors who wish to gain the skills to produce and manage a VFX project from development to post-production.

Other key personal such as cinematographers, editors and production designers may also apply. Participants can apply with or without a project. The programme includes several scheduled VFX clinics during which participants can discuss elements and issues in their projects with VFX Supervisors and Producers.

VFX: Script to Screen aims to create a pool of flexible professionals, highly versed in technology and terminology, and fully familiar with its development and production processes.

The programme will provide participants will a broad overview of managing projects with VFX elements at all budget levels through case studies, lectures and course work. The programme will provide the following:

  • Identify different VFX requirements for diverse projects and budget levels
  • Discuss budgeting and scheduling
  • Identify the team you need to build for VFX projects
  • Explore the scripting, planning, visual structure, storyboarding and pre-visualisation of a project
  • Explore the requirements of shooting VFX and on-set issues
  • Enhance understanding of key post-production processes
  • Enhance understanding of the interaction between VFX, games, and transmedia content

The Dublin based programme will take place over three residential modules. Module one includes pre-production, budgeting & scheduling, development & production, and will take place in June. Module two will provide participants with access to top European VFX professionals to facilitate intensive clinics. Finally, module three will focus on post-production and the processes involved in project management, editorial and work overflow.

The programme is presented by Screen Training Ireland and the Irish Film Board, and supported by the MEDIA programme of the European Union.

The deadline for applications is Friday 16th May 2014.
