Keith Duffy & Peter Kay Feel O'Carroll's ‘Force’
21 Jan 2010 | ‘National Task Force’, a new feature film to be directed by and starring Irish comedian, director and actor, Brendan O’Carroll (Agnes Browne) is expected to start pre-production this April. Keith Duffy (Coronation Street) and comedian Peter Kay are also attached to the project.

Soderbergh Confirms Irish ‘Knockout’
19 Jan 2010 | ‘Knockout’, a new feature film to be directed by Steven Soderbergh (Ocean’s Thirteen, Erin Brockovich) will start a three week shoot in and around Dublin and Wicklow next month. The film which was written specifically for Dublin will feature an A-list cast including Ewan McGregor (The Men Who Stare at Goats), and IFTA nominee, Michael Fassbender (Fish Tank).

European Parliament Shoot Wraps at Studio Solas
15 Jan 2010 | Studio Solas, the Connemara-based film and television studios, have just completed the first project of the new-year, namely a prestigious shoot of an interactive game for the European Parliament Visitor Centre which will open in Brussels in Summer 2010 – and is to be the second largest visitor centre in the world.

Nick Hamm Starts ‘Killing Bono’
06 Jan 2010 | Nick Hamm’s new project, ‘Killing Bono’, will commence shooting on Monday, January 11th in Belfast. The film stars Ben Barnes (The Chronicles of Narnia), Irish actor Robert Sheehan (Cherrybomb, Misfits) and, a new addition to the cast, Krysten Ritter (Confessions of a Shopaholic).

‘Parked’ Revs into Action for Ripple World
05 Jan 2010 | Cameras will start rolling on the set of Ripple World Pictures’ new feature film ‘Parked’ on Monday, January 11th. ‘Parked’ is directed by Darragh Byrne (Wide Angle), written by Ciaran Creagh, and features an all star cast including Colm Meaney (The Damned United), Colin Morgan (Merlin), Milka Ahlroth (Twisted Roots), Stuart Graham (Hunger), Michael McElhatton (Happy Ever Afters) and David Wilmott (I Went Down).

Irish Film Board Pleased with 2010 Budget Allocation
10 Dec 2009 | The 2009 budget for Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board (IFB) has been announced by the Department of Arts, Sport and Tourism as €19.3 million for 2010 which represents a 5% cut from the 2009 budget allocation.

‘The Last Furlong’ Approaches Starting Line
30 Nov 2009 | ‘The Last Furlong’ a France-Ireland co-production is set to start shooting in March 2010. The film which centres on a love between two teenagers will be shot around Dublin. The feature is written by Nick Murphy (The Running Mate) and will be directed by Agnes Merlet (Dorothy Mills).

‘Sisk’ Scheduled for January Shoot, Cunningham to Star
27 Nov 2009 | Parallel Films' ‘Sisk’ is expected to start shooting in January 2010. Also known as ‘Day of Rest’, the film will star IFTA winning actor Liam Cunningham (Hunger, The Guard) and is scheduled for a Dublin shoot in the New Year with writer/director Brian O'Malley at the helm.

Cameras Roll on Set of 'My Brothers'
24 Nov 2009 | Production is underway on the new Irish feature film ‘My Brothers’, directed by Paul Fraser (Scummy Man) and written by William Collins (Escape of the Wild Thing). Set over the Halloween weekend of 1987, the film explores three young brothers' quest to replace their dying father's beloved watch in an off-beat and moving journey that ultimately leads them home.

AV Review Determines Film & TV Sector an Irish "Success Story"
23 Nov 2009 | The Audiovisual Federation, the IBEC group that represents the feature film, television and animation sectors, has launched its 2009 review of film and television production in Ireland. In 2008, 266 audiovisual productions were completed in Ireland, with a total production value of €246.8 million - this was a significant increase on 2007 (€195.7 million).

The comedy was scripted and directed by James Phelan (writer, Rasai na Gaillimhe) and was produced by Geraldine Heffernan for Dungarvan based company, Nemeton.
