The Palm Springs International Film Festival has announced its 2024 lineup which includes Irish film Lies We Tell, and the Jessie Buckley-led Wicked Little Letters.
Hosted by the Palm Springs International Film Society, the PSIFF spotlights a range of global films. The 35th annual festival’s opening night kicks off on January 5th with the US premiere of Wicked Little Letters starring Jessie Buckley (I’m Thinking of Ending Things). The film is directed by Thea Sharrock (Me Before You), and features Buckley acting alongside Olivia Coleman (The Favourite), Timothy Spall (The Heist Before Christmas), and Anjana Vasan (Black Mirror).
Lies We Tell will have its North American premiere at the festival. The psychological thriller was directed by Lisa Mulcahy (Red Rock) and stars Agnes O’Casey (The Miracle Club), Chris Walley (The Young Offenders), and David Wilmot (Intermission). The film had its World Premiere earlier this year at the Galway Film Fleadh, where lead actor O’Casey received the Bingham Ray New Talent Award, and DoP Eleanor Bowman (How To Tell a Secret) received the award for Best Cinematography in an Irish Feature. Lies We Tell was funded by Screen Ireland, and was developed through the POV Scheme, an initiative that supports the development and production of low budget feature films from female filmmakers.
