“Lights, Action … Live Life”

National film competition in honour of Donal Walsh open for entries.

Calling all budding filmmakers, the Creative Media Department in the Institute of Technology, Tralee are holding a national film competition in honour of Donal Walsh and the Live Life Foundation to help spread Donal’s wise words of “Live Life”.

The theme is “Live Life” and your film must reflect the theme in some way.

The competition is open to people of all ages – individually, in groups, with friends, in classes, etc to make a film (of any genre) to spread the positive message of “Live Life”.

The film must not be longer than 2 mins, must be uploaded to Youtube and the link submitted to the competition judges to the following email address lightscamera…. livelife@ittralee.ie by 31st January, 2014. Include your name(s), address and contact details with the email.

Your short film must include accurate storytelling, clear camera and audio work, along with effective editing.

There are three categories in the competition: primary school, secondary school and third level.

There will be digital media and high tech prizes awarded for the best entries and prizes will be presented by well-known celebrity judges and TV personalities at the Institute of Technology, Tralee on “Live Life Love Day” 14th February, 2014.

Mary Lucey, Head of the Department of Creative Media, IT Tralee, said: “The film competition is giving the college an opportunity to support and promote the positive message of the Live Life Foundation.” Mary, who is an honorary trustee of the foundation and host of this year’s film competition, has indicated that the competition will become an annual event.

Closing date for submissions this year is the January 31st 2014.
