Andrew Scott has joined the cast of new Irish comedy ‘The Stag’, which is scheduled to begin shooting in Dublin next Monday (November 12).
Produced by Treasure Entertainment, the feature has been co-written by Oscar-nominee Peter McDonald (Pentecost) and ‘Tenderloin’ novelist John Butler and will shoot on-location for four weeks in total.
Butler will also direct the feature, which is his first. He has previously directed the shorts ‘George’ and ‘The Ballad of Kid Kanturk’, as well as the IFTA-winning RTÉ sketch show ‘Your Bad Self’, which was also produced by Treasure.
‘The Stag’ will centre on a group of male friends as they embark on an Irish stag party. Scott, who is best known for playing Moriarty in the BBC hit series ‘Sherlock’, will play the best man.
Other cast members include Irish actors Hugh O’Conor (Bloom); Andrew Bennett (Moone Boy); Michael Legge (Shameless); Brian Gleeson (Standby) and Peter McDonald (I Went Down). Amy Huberman (The Clinic) will play the bride-to-be.
Treasure’s Robert Walpole (Eclipse) and Rebecca O'Flanagan (My Brothers) will produce the feature.
Crew members attached to the project include director Peter Robertson (Children of the Wind); costume designer Kathy Strachan (Death of a Superhero) and production designer Ferdia Murphy (Foxes).
Post-production on the feature will be carried out at Windmill Lane with John O’Connor (Pentecost) editing.
‘The Stag’ is being supported by the Irish Film Board.
