Screen Skills Ireland to Support Two Masterclasses at VMDIFF 2019
19 Feb 2019 : News Desk
Screen Skills Ireland will support two masterclasses at the Virgin Media Dublin International Film Festival, which runs from February 20th to March 3rd 2019.

The masterclasses range from award-winning composer David Shire to a case study of the Sundance-premiered documentary ‘Shooting the Mafia’.

Friday 22nd of February: David Shire Composing Masterclass

Prolific composer David Shire will host a masterclass in composition as part of the Virgin Media Dublin International Film Festival. David’s work can be heard in celebrated films The Taking of Pelham 123, The Conversation and Zodiac, as well as many other movie, television and theatre scores.

This workshop will be aimed at screen composers, practitioners and students and will be hosted by Anna Rice, board member of the Screen Composers Guild of Ireland with credits on Anton, 4 Queens and the Abbey Theatre and National Theatre’s inaugural collaborative production of Juno And The Paycock.

Sunday 3rd of March: Shooting the Mafia Case Study

A case study will be presented by the filmmakers behind Shooting the Mafia with director Kim Longinotto, producer Niamh Fagan, archive producer Clare Stronge and executive producer Lesley McKimm. They will explain their path from the genesis of the idea, through the development and production, to the film premiering at Sundance 2019. The panel will be hosted by Emer Reynolds, director of The Farthest.
