The nominations for the 2015 BAFTA Television Craft Awards have been announced, with ‘Penny Dreadful’ leading the way with five nominations.
‘Penny Dreadful’ – which is due to wrap shooting on its’ second season in the next few weeks – was shot entirely in Wicklow and Dublin, primarily at Ardmore Studios and is co-produced by Octagon Films.
The show received nominations in the categories of Costume Design, Original Music, Titles & Graphic Identity and Make-up and Hair Design. Irish production designer Philip Murphy also received a nomination along with Jonathan McKinistry in the category of Best Production Design for their work on the show.
The Element Pictures co-production ‘Ripper Street’ also received two nominations – in the categories of Titles & Graphic Identity and Special, Visual and Graphic Effects, the latter of which is going to the trio of Ed Bruce, Nicholas Murphy and John O Connell of Dublin-based Screen Scene.
Irish editor Úna Ní Dhonghaíle received a nomination for Best Editing: Fiction for her work in the critically acclaimed BBC drama ‘The Missing’ starring James Nesbitt. Belfast-set drama ‘The Fall’ also received a nomination in this category for their editor Stephen Singleton.
Irish DoP Owen McPolin – who has also shot episodes of ‘Penny Dreadful’ – received a nomination in the category of Best Photography and Lighting: Fiction for ‘Da Vinci’s Demons’.
There was also a nomination for Irish writer Arthur Matthews –along with Matt Berry – for Best Writer: Comedy for their work on ‘Toast of London’.
Also of Irish interest is the nomination of Ben Kellett in the category of Best Director: Multi-Camera for his work in the Irish comedy ‘Mrs Brown’s Boys’ starring Brendan O Carroll.
The BAFTA Television Craft Awards will take place on Sunday 26 April at the Brewery in East London.
