Dermot Horan will take over as Director of Production and Acquisitions while Michelle Spillane will become Director of RTÉ Global
After some recent departures at RTÉ Television, a number of changes have been made to the channel in an effort to reorganise resources and prioritise the distribution of top quality content and to maximise revenues to fund it.
The position of Director of Production and Acquisitions will be taken up by Dermot Horan. Dermot will be responsible for the team of Genre Heads to ensure the programming transmitted across RTÉ One and Two meets the objectives of the Channels Controller and delivers new formats, programme sales, and co-productions on an ongoing basis.
Dermot will also be responsible for the ongoing development of production staff and, with the Genre Heads, for the implementation of RTÉ Television’s digital strategy, which aims for all genres to be fully bi-media by the end of this year. Dermot will represent production at the TV Board and will maintain and develop external relationships with key industry bodies and partners including DCENR, BAI, SPI and IFB.
Michelle Spillane will become the new Director of RTÉ Global at the end of the month. She is currently Chief Marketing Officer at Microsoft Ireland and she was previously Marketing Director at ITV Worldwide.
Michelle will be reporting to Glen Killane, MDTV and Group commercial Director, Willie O’Reilly. Her responsibilities include the activation of new revenue streams from RTÉ Television to maximise returns in content particularly in programme sales, merchandising and licensing, theatrical release, intellectual property and deficit funding.
