Irish actress Evanna Lynch is set to star opposite Malcolm McDowell, Gary Oldman and Dominic Monaghan in the feature film ‘Monster Butler’.
Lynch – who is best known for playing Luna Lovegood in the Harry Potter movies – will play Fiona Carrick-Smith, the daughter of an aristocrat. She is seduced by her older butler who is in fact a confidence trickster, played by 68-year-old McDowell (A Clockwork Orange).
’Monster Butler’ is based on the true story of Roy Fontaine, aka Archibald Hall, who was a jewel thief, con man and serial killer. The film will detail his journey from petty thief to a serial killer. Until he died in 2002, Fontaine was the oldest person serving a whole life sentence in jail.
‘Lord Of The Rings’ actor Monaghan will play Fontaine's lover in the movie, while Oldman has been cast as a taxidermist and one of Fontaine's partners in crime.
The movie will begin shooting in Scotland and London later this month and will be directed by Douglas Rath (ID) from a script by Peter Bellwood (Highlander).
Rath has previously directed a 2010 short on Fontaine – also entitled ‘Monster Butler’ – which starred McDowell and was also scripted by Bellwood. The film will be produced by Canada’s Dark House Films and is due for release next year.
