Catherine Walker Joins Cast of Swedish-based MTG Studios’ ‘Rig 45’
28 Nov 2017 : Nathan Griffin
The new English-language drama commissioned by Nordic Pay-TV operator MTG Studios is set around a fatal accident that takes place on an offshore oil rig.

IFTA nominated actress Catherine Walker (‘A Dark Song’, ‘Versailles’) has joined the cast of the new suspense thriller and is set to play the role of Andrea, an investigator who is sent onboard Rig 45 by an oil company to investigate the fallout of a suspicious accident that led to the demise of their workers.

Walker will be joining a cast that includes ‘Outlander’ actor Gary Lewis and Danish star Soren Malling (‘A Hijacking’) who will co-star in the series. The show will also feature Irish actress, Judith Roddy, who is most well know for her work on stage and is set to feature prominently in the series. MTG expect to premiere the new drama series on its own Nordic streaming sevice – Viaplay next summer, 2018.

The show will be directed by Per Hanefjord (‘Black Windows’) and will be produced by Mopar Media Group, while ITV International Distribution will handle the international sales rights for the new Nordic series.

‘Rig 45’ is the latest series to be greenlighted by MTG Studios who have a reported 50 scripted series in the works. Some of the Swedish based company’s previous work includes Scandi horror thriller ‘Black Lake’, which recently sold to AMC Networks and BBC Four, and ‘Swedish Dicks’, which co-stars Keanu Reeves and has just completed its second season.
