The 15-year-old Irish actor interviewed on RTÉ Radio 1's Ray D'Arcy Show with ‘Moone Boy’ co-star Ian O’Reilly yesterday, Monday July 25th.
Rawle discussed an amalgam of present and upcoming work, including his role as the 1990s child serial killer Brendan O’Donnell in ‘Property of the State’, directed by Kit Ryan.,p>
The narrative focuses predominantly on the protagonist Anne Marie, played by Aisling Loftus, who must face guilt by association as sister to the young murderer.
Director Kit Ryan described the true story the film is based upon earlier this year as “…tragic on many levels…Anne Marie found herself in a conflicted and confusing space, caught between family and the tragic acts perpetrated by her brother.”
The feature film screened at the recent Galway Film Fleadh to audiences more accustomed to seeing Rawle in the innocent role of Martin Moone alongside comedian Chris O’Dowd in ‘Moone Boy’. On his divergence from this innocent typecast Rawle states:
"It wasn't the story of a terrible person. It was the story of a young boy, who I play, who is put down all the wrong roads and makes all the wrong decisions and ends up where he does. It's a very, very morbid story but it was something I wondered could I actually do.”
The film is expected to release to Irish cinemas in November of this year.
O’Reilly is set to star in upcoming drama ‘The Zoo’, which also stars Irish talents Amy Huberman, and Barry Ward. The feature is set to be directed by Conor McIvor.
