‘Little Roy’, JAM Media’s spinoff of their BAFTA award-winning preschool series ‘Roy’, has wrapped on its’ three month live-action shoot and is currently in post-production.
Filming began on October 9th, 2015 and wrapped on January 18th, 2016 with 24/7 Drama providing the equipment, which consisted of a Panasonic Varicam 35 4K – the first time the camera was used in Ireland. The series is now being animated at JAM Media.
All of the post-production is taking place at EGG with Malcolm Maloney editing all 52 Episodes, along with Veronica Kaminska. Nik Pantries is grading and Alan Sullivan is unlinking with the sound mix also taking place at EGG.
Susie Power from the Maureen V. Ward Agency voiced Little Roy. Susie also currently plays Ellie Daly on RTÉ soap 'Fair City'.
Building on the success of the ‘Roy’ , which currently airs on CBBC, ‘Little Roy’ is a live action/animation hybrid starring Roy O’Brien, an animated five year old boy on a journey of self-discovery through imaginative play.
‘Little Roy’ was jointly commissioned by Controller of CBeebies Kay Benbow and by Controller of CBBC Cheryl Taylor and will air on both channels. The Irish Film Board have supported the show since inception with development and now production funding. The series was also awarded funding from the BAI.
Sue Nott and Michael Towner from the BBC executive produce, along with Alan Shannon and John Rice from JAM Media. The series is produced by Mark Cumberton.
