TV3's 'Road to Dublin' Lead to Europa Final
02 Sep 2010 | Motive Television has reportedly signed a €1.1m live sports production contract with TV3 to co-produce coverage of the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League with Asgard Media. 
'His & Hers' Hits €300,000 at Irish Box Office
01 Sep 2010 | Ken Wardrop’s ‘His & Hers’, which was released in Irish cinemas on June 18th, has now reached a gross box-office of over €300,000 making it the highest grossing documentary released in Ireland since Michael Moore’s ‘Farrenheit 911’. This is a fantastic result for the Irish documentary, which was made on a micro budget of just €100,000. Opening on week one on just €40,000, the power of word of mouth means the film has now grossed 7.5 times this amount. 
Setanta Announces Two New Signings
30 Aug 2010 | Setanta Sports has acquired the Irish television rights to broadcast live Serie A football for the coming season. The coverage launched on Sunday, August 29th August and continues today, Monday, August 30th with live broadcast of the Bologna v Inter Milan match at 7.45pm. 
Interview: Niall McKay Talks San Fran Irish Film Fest
26 Aug 2010 | Niall McKay founded the San Francisco Irish Film Festival in 2004. The festival, which takes place this year from the 23rd to the 25th of September, looks to present the best in contemporary Irish cinema, celebrating everything from features to documentaries to Irish language films. IFTN talked to the festival’s founder and filmmaker about the running of the event and the changing face of Irish film. 
Rose of Tralee Attracts One Million+ Viewers
26 Aug 2010 | The Rose of Tralee on RTÉ One was the most-watched programme on any channel available in Ireland so far this year. A peak of over one million viewers saw London Rose Clare Kambamettu crowned the 52nd Rose of Tralee on Tuesday, August 26th. Hosted for the first time by a native Kerry-man in the shape of Dáithi O’Sé, the two day event was watched by an average of 916,300 people. 
Shimmy Marcus Introduces 'Soul Boy'
20 Aug 2010 | The first weekend in September will see the release of two new productions from Irish writer/director Shimmy Marcus (Headrush). September 3rd marks the long-awaited release of his Northern Soul feature 'Soul Boy' across screens in UK & Ireland, whilst new comedy series 'Mattie' starring Pat Shortt which Shimmy helmed debuts on RTÉ1 on September 5th. 
'Pyjama Girls' Returns to IFI, Still Films in Spotlight
20 Aug 2010 | ‘Pyjama Girls’, Maya Derrington’s new feature documentary will return to the IFI for an exclusive release today, August 20th. The project looks to capture the ups and downs of working class teenage life behind the enigmatic and subversive statement of wearing pyjamas in public. Still Films’ recent work will be further marked with the world premiere of Paul Rowley’s experimental feature, ‘The Rooms’ and his documentary ‘Seaview’. Finally Tuesday, August 24th will see a ‘Still Films in Conversation’ event take place where all three projects will be discussed. 
Govt. Assessing Free-to-Air Sports Proposals
13 Aug 2010 | Communications Minister Eamon Ryan announced recently that he has appointed expert consultants to examine the proposal on the revision of the list of sporting events available as free-to-air. Following a month-long tender process, Indecon International Economic Consultants has been chosen to study the proposal and prepare a report on the Review of Designated Events and the Designation of Events of Major Importance to Society under the Broadcasting Act 2009. 
GFD Inks Non-Theatrical ‘Secret of Kells’ Deal
13 Aug 2010 | GFD Film Library has announced that it has secured the exclusive distribution of Cartoon Saloon's Oscar nominted feature, ‘The Secret of Kells’ for Non-Theatrical Screenings on DVD in Ireland. 
BAI Announces New DTT Introduction Plans
11 Aug 2010 | The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) has repeated its displeasure that its chosen groups have failed to work together in the orchestration of bringing commercial Digital Terestial Television (DTT) to Ireland. The group has thus decided not to reactivate a commercial DTT multiplex licensing process until after the Analogue Switch Off (ASO). RTÉ has selected MHEG as the interactive middleware for the rollout of its national DTT service. 
'One Hundred Mornings' Scoops Distribution Award
29 Jul 2010 | Conor Horgan’s ‘One Hundred Mornings’ has won the inaugural WorkBook Project Discovery and Distribution Award which seeks to highlight an outstanding film that they feel has been overlooked in terms of US distribution. 
Expert Air Awarded FACT Security Accreditation
26 Jul 2010 | Expert Air has announced that it has been awarded the FACT (Federation Against Copyright Theft) Certificate of Accreditation. The transport solutions company is now the only Irish-owned company to have received this accreditation which will enhance the level of service the company can provide to the film and media industry, helping them address customers’ security concerns against anti-piracy. 
‘Happy Ever Afters’ Receives DVD release
20 Jul 2010 | Irish screwball wedding comedy ‘Happy Ever Afters’ is to be released on DVD throughout Europe in territories such as the UK, Ireland, Italy and Germany. Furthermore, IFC has purchased all of the U.S. rights for the film. 
U.S. Prepares for 'Kisses'
14 Jul 2010 | The IFTA winning Irish feature ‘Kisses’, written and directed by Lance Daly (The Halo Effect), is set for release in U.S cinemas from Friday 16th July. The film has already enjoyed huge success across the Atlantic, having been officially selected for screening at festivals including Toronto and Miami where it walked away with the event’s Audience Award. 
SPI & IFB Help Resolve Disputes
06 Jul 2010 | The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), through its Arbitration and Mediation Center, has developed customised Mediation and Expedited Arbitration procedures for film and media disputes. Screen Producers Ireland and the Irish Film Board will host a launch of these rules in Galway on Thursday, July 8th. 
‘His & Hers’ Enjoys Box Office Success
29 Jun 2010 | ‘His & Hers’ which was released on Firday, June 18, has enjoyed box office takings of close to €70,000. This achievement, paired with excellent national and international reviews, has resulted in distributor Element Pictures Distribution increasing print numbers with the film now showing in 10 cinemas across the country.

Five Million Tune in For ‘Father & Son’
09 Jun 2010 | Irish drama ‘Father & Son’ began broadcasting on Monday 7th June on ITV1 to an audience of 5.127 million viewers. A co-production between RTÉ and ITV, the IFTA winning drama from Left Bank Pictures and Octagon Films stars Dougray Scott (Hitman), Stephen Rea (Ondine) and Sophie Okenedo (Hotel Rwanda). 
‘Zonad’ Launches on DVD
09 Jun 2010 | Element Pictures Distribution has announced that ‘Zonad’ is to receive its Irish DVD release on Friday, 18th June. Written and directed by John Carney (Once) and Kieran Carney (Bachelors Walk) the film stars Simon Delaney (Happy Ever Afters), David Pearse (Fifty Dead Men Walking), Janice Byrne (Uncle Bill’s Barrel) and Rory Keenan (The Guard). 
RTÉ Scores Premier League Highlights Deal
03 Jun 2010 | RTÉ Television has been awarded the rights to broadcast Barclays Premier League soccer highlights for three seasons up to and including the 2012/2013 season. RTÉ Television’s team of analysts and commentators will deliver in excess of 40 programmes per season covering a wide range of Barclays Premier League matches throughout the next three years.
