Alison Oliver (Saltburn) and Sam Keeley (Kin) have been cast in Task, a new HBO crime drama series from Brad Inglesby (Mare of Easttown), led by Mark Ruffalo (Poor Things).

Irish actors Alison Oliver and Sam Keeley have joined the cast of Task, a new HBO miniseries from writer Brad Inglesby (Mare of Easttown). Mark Ruffalo is set to lead the crime drama.

Task, set in the working class suburbs outside of Philadelphia, follows FBI agent Tom (Ruffalo) who heads a Task Force intending to put an end to a series of drug-house robberies led by an unsuspecting family man. Oliver will portray Lizzie, an underperforming state police officer who is added to Tom’s (Ruffalo). Keeley plays Jayson, the leader of a local crime organisation at the centre of the killings.

Oliver, Keeley, and Ruffalo are joined by Fabien Frankel (House of the Dragon), who plays Anthony, an integral member of the task force. Other cast members include Emilia Jones (CODA), Jamie McShane (Thor), Raúl Castillo (Cassandro), Thuso Mbedu (The Woman King), and Tom Pelphrey (Mank).

According to a Deadline interview with Mark Ruffalo, Task will begin filming in March and is set in the “same universe” as Inglesby’s previous HBO limited series The Mare of Easttown, starring Kate Winslet.

“At some point those two might run into each other in the future, that’s what they’re saying,” said Ruffalo. “It’s not set, nothing’s set.”

Jeremiah Zagar (Hustle) and Salli Richardson-Whitfield (The Wheel of Time) will direct, as well as executive produce along with Ingelsby. Ruffalo will also executive produce with Paul Lee and Mark Royball for wiip studios, and David Crockett. Nicole Jordan-Webber and Public Record’s Jeremy Yaches will serve as co-executive producers.
