Fiona Shaw at the BAFTA TV Awards. |
|
The Killing Eve star received her first ever BAFTA Award at the ceremony, which took place at the Royal Festival Hall in London on Sunday night, May 12th.
The BBC America drama led the nominations on the night, picking up three awards in total, which included Best Drama, Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress for Shaw.
Shaw fended off stiff competition in a category that included Billie Piper for BBC Two’s ‘Collateral’, Keeley Hawes for BBC One’s hit series ‘The Bodyguard’ and Monica Dolan for BBC One’s ‘A Very English Scandal’.
Lisa McGee’s Northern Irish hit comedy ‘Derry Girls’ missed out on a BAFTA award after receiving a nod for Best Scripted Comedy. The award was picked up by Sky Atlantic/HBO series ‘Sally4Ever’ with BBC Two’s ‘Mum’Ever’ and Channel 4’s ‘Stath Lets Flats’ rounding out the category.
Irish editor Tony Kearns, who was nominated for Best Editing for his work on Black Mirror’s interactive episode ‘Bandersnatch’, and Irish producer Aoife Bower, who was named as part of ‘The Big Narstie Show’ production team nominated for Best Comedy Entertainment, both missed out in their respective categories.
