the Guinness Rugby series, plus the graphics for the recent Irish Film
and Television Awards and the ICAD Awards, and you have some idea of the
talent of this young company.
Although Piranha Bar was only formed in 2002, it has plenty of experience
with the three personalities driving the team. Managing Director Dave
Burke, Creative Director Gavin Kelly and Facilities Director and Head
of Programming Marc Long, have been working in the industry for years.
The recent appointment of Paul Giles as Head of Editing further strengthens
their team, providing editing services on shows such as 'The Blizzard
of Odd', Tyrone's 'Land of Sex & Sinners',Palomino's 'Coulter & Co' and
Animo's Disability series over the coming months.
This is in addition to the ongoing online, grading and graphics work
Piranha Bar has been doing for companies including Subotica's Abbey documentary,
Agtel's 'Show Me The Money', Crossing the Line's 'Wild Trials', and the
soon to be broadcast Purple Productions' 'Dust Devils' on TG4.
This is a company that is talent driven - and it's certainly a very
creative environment - Piranha Bar stresses the personal input and involvement
on the part of its artists, rather than the dogmatic facility structure
of old.
Piranha Bar has restructured the client relationship to release the
creative potential of digital facilities which has up to this point been
locked within the old analogue facility model. There are currently nine
people working in the graphics department, the largest in Dublin, under
Gavin Kelly, making-up different teams for different projects and clients.
This is important when one company is dealing with so many clients who
are based in the same industry.
