RTÉ One's natural history series Ireland's Wild Islands has received nominations at both the British Wildscreen Festival and the German Green Screen Festival, two leading international wildlife film festivals.
The series features presenter Eoin Warner travelling around the coast of Ireland in a Galway Hooker. Warner undertook his journey in memory of his late father Captain David Warner, who died in the Whiddy Island disaster in 1979.
The Wildscreen Festival celebrates excellence in natural history storytelling. At the festival, Warner has been nominated in the On-Screen Talent for his work in the series, which was broadcast on RTÉ One last April and May in three parts.
Reacting to the nomination, Warner said "I'm so honoured to be nominated at Wildscreen, up against such massive international competition and it's especially gratifying to be a finalist with such a personal Irish project. Our islands are very special places and vital sanctuaries for some of our most precious and wonderful wildlife."
The series has also been shortlisted for Best Marine Film at Germany’s Green Screen festival.
Ireland's Wild Islands was produced by Crossing the Line Productions and commissioned by RTÉ’s Head of Factual Content, Colm O’Callaghan.
