Bryan Dobson is set to retire at the end of April, after working as a broadcaster at RTÉ for 37 years.
Broadcaster Bryan Dobson has announced his retirement from RTÉ, after 37 years with the Irish public service broadcaster. He currently presents RTÉ Radio's News at One, and has previously presented previously RTÉ News: Six One, RTÉ News: Nine O'Clock, Morning Ireland, as well as RTÉ News: One O'Clock.
"After 37 fantastic years with RTÉ, the time has come to move on,” said Dobson in a statement. “I will miss working with some wonderfully talented and hardworking colleagues.
“RTÉ journalism depends on teamwork and I have worked with some of the very best.”
“I am grateful too to the listeners and viewers who have given me their time and attention over the years. I hope to have repaid that trust with reporting that was relevant, fair and accurate."
Dobson joined RTÉ in 1987 as a reporter with RTÉ Radio 1's This Week programme. The same year, he was appointed as RTÉ's business correspondent, and presented to business programme Marketplace.
He went on to join RTÉ News and Current Affairs as a reporter in 1992. In 1996, he was named as the co-presenter of the flagship early evening news programme, RTÉ News: Six One on RTÉ One. He left this position in 2017, after 21 years of co-presenting, to move to Morning Ireland.
Dobson has also presented RTÉ's coverage of various general elections, and the television coverage of Queen Elizabeth II's visit to the Republic of Ireland in 2011.
