Cillian Murphy, Barry Keoghan, Paul Mescal, and Element Pictures’ Poor Things have been announced today, January 18th, among the nominees of the 2024 BAFTA Awards. The awards ceremony will take place on February 18th, 2024.
Cillian Murphy and Barry Keoghan have been BAFTA-nominated in the Leading Actor category, for their respective roles in Oppenheimer and Saltburn. Paul Mescal has been nominated for the Supporting Actor BAFTA award for his performance in All of Us Strangers, in which he starred alongside Andrew Scott. Robbie Ryan has been nominated for Cinematography for his work on Poor Things.
Element Pictures’ Poor Things has been nominated for eleven BAFTA awards, the second highest number of nominations for a film at the 2024 BAFTAs. These nominations include Robbie Ryan for Cinematography, Adapted Screenplay for Tony McNamara, Leading Actress for Emma Stone, Outstanding British Film, and Best Film. The Element Pictures-produced short film Such a Lovely Day was nominated for Best British Short Film.
Oppenheimer received the highest number of nominations with 13 in total, including Cillian Murphy for Leading Actor, Christopher Nolan for Adapted Screenplay and Best Director, Emily Blunt and Robert Downey Jr. in the Supporting Actress and Supporting Actor categories, as well as both Outstanding British Film and Best Film.
Andrew Haigh’s All of Us Strangers received six nominations in total: Mescal for Supporting Actor, Claire Foy for Supporting Actress, Adapted Screenplay and Best Director for Andrew Haigh, Outstanding British Film, and Casting.
Killers of the Flower Moon received nine BAFTA nominations, including Best Film and Supporting Actor (Robert De Niro), tying with Jonathan Glazer’s The Zone of Interest. Anatomy of a Fall, The Holdovers and Maestro earned seven nominations each, and Saltburn and Barbie tied for 5 nominations each.
Murphy was previously nominated for the BAFTA Rising Star Award in 2007. Keoghan was nominated for the same award in 2019, followed by two Supporting Actor nominations in 2021 and 2023, winning the latter nomination last year for his performance in Banshees of Inisherin. Mescal was nominated for Leading Actor in 2023 for Aftersun.
The BAFTA Awards ceremony will take place on February 18th, 2024.
