IFTN brings you a round-up of Creative Europe’s key updates such as the results of the MEDIA Slate Funding Awards, upcoming EACEA Funding Webinars, and European Cinema Night.

MEDIA Slate Funding awards
Creative Europe MEDIA have announced the Irish recipients of the most recent MEDIA Slate Funding awards. The European Slate Development support scheme increases the capacity of audiovisual producers to develop projects with the potential to circulate throughout Europe and beyond, and to facilitate European and international co-production.

Slate Development support enables independent European production companies to develop a slate of 3 to 5 audio-visual works in fiction, animation, and creative documentary. Applicants may add a short film by emerging talent to their slate.

The five successful companies are:

  • Element Pictures
  • EZ Films
  • Fantastic Films
  • Homebird Productions
  • Wildcat Pictures

The next Slate Funding Call deadline is 13th December 2023.

EACEA Funding Webinars

The EACEA series of funding webinars continues in November, December and in January.

MEDIA Webinars
Films on the Move, Wednesday, 29th November, 2pm - 3.30pm Irish time.
Innovative Tools & Business Models, Friday, 24th November, 10am - 11am Irish time
Networks of European Film Festivals, Tuesday, 5th December, 9.30am - 11am Irish time
European Co-development, Tuesday 16th January, 1pm - 3.30pm Irish time.

Cross Sector Webinars
Media Literacy, Monday, 4th December, 10am to 11am Irish time.
Journalism Partnerships, Wednesday 6th December, 10am - 11am Irish time.

European Cinema Night

The European Cinema Night returns with a line-up of European film screenings from 4th to 8th December across Europe.

Six years after the launch of the initiative, Creative Europe MEDIA and Europa Cinemas network partner-up to present European Cinema Night – Sharing Stories We Love. This initiative aims to bring Europe closer to its citizens by celebrating the richness and diversity of European film culture through free screenings across the continent.

85 cinemas from the network of Europa Cinema will participate in this edition. Each cinema has selected a European film based on the interests of their audiences, to provide a tailored cinematic experience.

EUROPEAN CINEMA NIGHT IRELAND | Irish Film Institute, Dublin
In Ireland, the Irish Film Institute will host a free screening of La Syndicaliste on Tuesday 5th December. Tickets for this screening are free.

SPECIAL GUEST: Maureen Kearney will participate in a post-screening Q&A at this event

The true story of Irishwoman Maureen Kearney (Isabelle Huppert), the head union rep at a French multinational nuclear energy company, who became a whistle-blower, exposing secret deals that shook the French nuclear sector, is recounted in this gripping drama. 

La Syndicaliste is distributed by access>CINEMA in Ireland with Creative Europe MEDIA support.
