The Academy have announced the newest members of their actors branch, including Irish actors Colin Farrell (The Banshees of Inisherin, The Batman) and Paul Mescal (Foe, All of Us Strangers), in a post on their social media. Also included in this announcement are Stephanie Hsu (Everything Everywhere All At Once), Raúl Castillo (The Inspection), Noémie Merlant (Portrait of a Lady on Fire), Bill Hader (Barry), Joanna Kulig (Cold War), and A Martinez (Ambulance).
In another post welcoming the latest cinematographers accepted into the Academy, Irish cinematographer Kate McCullough (An Cailín Ciúin, Arracht) was announced as an official member of the Academy.
Earlier this year IFTN covered the invitation of 398 artists and executives who had been invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, including many filmmakers from Ireland. These invitees included Colm Bairead (An Cailín Ciúin), Kerry Condon (The Banshees of Inisherin), Fodhla Cronin O’Reilly (God’s Creatures), and Tom Berkeley & Ross White (An Irish Goodbye, The Golden West).
The Academy is yet to announce the latest directors and producers to be officially accepted as members. So far their announcements have covered cinematographers, musicians, costume designers, makeup artists and hairstylists accepted into the Academy, as well as an ongoing series of posts dedicated to the latest actors to become official members.
