Cinemagic Cross Border Short Film Academy
Cinemagic has launched its search for a young trainee film production crew for the 2023 Cross Border Short Film Academy supported by The Department of Education Ireland.

From July to September, a series of film masterclasses and pre-production masterclasses will culminate in the production of a short film made by teenagers under the guidance of industry professionals.

Participants, from Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland, aged 15-18, will have the chance to develop their talents in a range of production areas and earn a credit on the production. Cinemagic is looking for committed, talented and creative young people.

The successful applicants will participate in a programme of practical training and the opportunity will provide the young filmmakers with an insight to all aspects of filmmaking and the essential skills required on set.

“With thanks to funding provided by The Department of Education we look forward to offering this valuable skills development programme,” said Joan Burney Keatings MBE, Cinemagic Chief Executive. “We are looking forward to meeting and working with young talented and creative teens from all over Ireland and Northern Ireland, who are interested in the film industry and want to share ideas and learn from industry professionals. We are looking for young people from all backgrounds to come together on a cross-border project and work on a common goal and illustrate what can be achieved working as a team on this innovative opportunity.”

To apply, complete the application form here and return the application to laura @ cinemagic.org.uk by noon on 10th July. Interviews for places on the project will take place on the morning of 13th July.
