29 Sep 2020 : News Desk
Screen Skills Ireland' Screen Mentoring Scheme.
Screen Skills Ireland, the skills development unit within Screen Ireland, has announced that the next round of the structured mentoring scheme, Screen Mentoring, is now open for applications.

The scheme enables mentees to avail of mentoring support at key stages in their career development that will encompass business, creative and/or technical mentoring. Mentors will provide practical, tailored advice, and guidance based on their professional experience, on a one to one basis.

Screen Skills Ireland is looking for applications from mentees who are seeking the support and guidance of a mentor from our panel, in order to learn and grow professionally. To apply for the scheme, prospective mentees should visit https://screenmentoring.ie/ and complete the online application form by the 5pm on Monday 19th October 2020.

The first round saw 25 mentees paired with highly experienced industry professionals including Lenny Abrahamson (director, Normal People, Room, Frank), Lisa Mulcahy (director, Years and Years, Blood, Red Rock), and Ed Guiney (producer/co-founder of Element Pictures, Normal People, The Favourite, The Lobster).

The current mentoring panel is comprised of 90 Irish and international industry professionals from the Film, TV, Animation, VFX and Immersive Technology sectors, who have signed up to be mentors to give something back to the industry by sharing their knowledge and experience.

The scheme is open to all industry professionals, above and below the line, working in the Irish screen sector with a minimum of three year’s full-time relevant experience. Diversity and inclusion will be factored into the selection process for all mentees. All mentoring will be offered remotely online due to the ongoing situation with COVID-19 restrictions.

Experienced industry professionals, particularly heads of departments in all areas, experienced drama directors, and experienced writers who are interested in becoming a mentor on this scheme should contact mentoring@screenskillsireland.ie.
