Irish writer/director Peter Foott has boarded DisneyPlus’ new Halloween themed movie, Spooked, a supernatural comedy that is currently in development for the new SOVD platform.
The Hollywood Reporter has reported that The Young Offenders’ creator will “rewrite and direct the project.”
The project, which was originally written by Tyler Burton Smith, is being produced by Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich of Rideback for Disney+ with Mark Bauch executive producing.
Little is known about the project other than the fact that it centres on a Halloween night gone wrong as trick or treaters are transformed into whatever costume they are wearing.
Having first plied his trade at RTÉ on shows such as Republic of Telly, Foott came to international prominence in 2016 after writing and directing hit Irish comedy, The Young Offenders, which took in €1.3million at the Irish box office in 2016. The success garnered a spin-off series commissioned by BBC Three, which is now in its third season, and has received over 17.6m requests on the BBC iPlayer to date.
