Lorcan Finnegan’s new sci-fi thriller ‘Vivarium’ starring Imogen Poots & Jesse Eisenberg has begun principal photography.

The film, which is also set to shoot in Belgium, is a European co-production with Irish production company Fantastic Films involved along with Belgian company Frakas Productions and Denmark’s Ping Pong Films.

Directed by Lorcan Finnegan (‘Without Name’, ‘Foxes’) and story by Irish writer Garret Shanley, the film stars Imogen Poots (’28 Weeks Later’, ‘Green Room’) and Jesse Eisenberg (‘Zombieland’, ‘Justice League’). Irish actor Eanna Hardwicke has also recently been added to the high profile cast.

Deadline has said that the story follows a young woman (Poots) who, along with her fiancé (Eisenberg), is in search of the perfect starter home. After following a mysterious real estate agent to a new housing development, the couple becomes trapped in a maze of identical houses and forced to raise an otherworldly child.

The co-production is being produced by John McDonnell & Brendan McDonnell of Fantastic Films, along with Alexander Brøndsted & Antonio Tublen of Ping Pong Films, and Jean-Yves Roubin of Frakas Productions.

Imogen Poots was also recently unveiled to co-star alongside Irish actor Barry Keoghan on FX’s comic book adaptation of ‘Y: The Last Man’.

‘Vivarium’ is a co-production with funding coming from Screen Ireland, the Danish Film Institute, Eurimages, and Belgium’s Wallimage. The film is also supported by Creative Europe, Film4 and Frontiéres.

The film is also set to film on location in Belgium.
