Release Date Announced for Conor McGregor Documentary ‘Notorious’
06 Oct 2017 : Nathan Griffin
Motive Films have announced a release date for the highly anticipated Conor McGregor Documentary, ‘Notorious.’ Having followed McGregor throughout his meteoric rise to becoming the biggest sports star in the world, releasing TV series ‘Notorious’ back in 2015, Motive films have announced that the Feature Documentary will debut in cinemas worldwide Wednesday, November 1st.

Speaking with IFTN - Jamie D’Alton, Producer (Motive Films) said:

"What a journey and what a story. Huge thanks to everyone involved, was a massive team effort with a brilliant set of characters and a production team who gave absolute total and utter commitment (all legends).  A special thanks to Team McGregor and the McGregor family who were so generous with their time and contributions to the film…”

In particular we would like to thank Conor McGregor for trusting us to tell his amazing story. There has never been a story quite like it and we hope we’ve done it justice. Conor is Ireland’s hardest working sports star who has broken every record since making his UFC debut the first ever two weight UFC champion, Conor has backed up everything he predicted and is now one of the most recognised faces on the planet. From a film making point of view what a central character, no other person in sport has the same swagger and charisma as Conor, blending action hero type athleticism and ability with a attitude and self belief that makes him impossible to ignore. He’s an incredibly proud Irishman who has remained steadfastly loyal to everyone who came up with him. Motive Films in partnership with GP Money are very grateful to have had the opportunity to tell this incredible story."

The Feature length Documentary has been filmed over the course of 4 years, and is a gripping access-all-areas account of McGregor’s personal and professional journey from claiming benefits and living in his mum’s spare room with his girlfriend to claiming multiple championship belts and 9-figure pay packets. Featuring exclusive interviews, unprecedented access and fight footage; this is the ultimate behind-the-scenes look at a sporting icon and his meteoric rise.

Speaking about McGregor - Gavin FitzGerald, Director said:

"The first time I met Conor I knew he was going to huge. There's a twinkle in his eyes that makes you believe the words he's saying. He has an extraordinary aura about him and watching his skills and fame grow over the years has been a once in a lifetime experience. From run down gyms on the Long Mile Road to travelling on jets across the world, we never missed a beat of the action. If you're not a fan of Conor, this film will convince you otherwise. The story of a true Irish hero"

Directed by Gavin Fitzgerald (The Fighting Irish) & produced by Jamie D’Alton (I Am Immigrant) the film is set for a worldwide theatrical release. Producer on the film was Graeme McDonnell (The Notorious) and executive producer for Motive Films was Anne McLoughlin (Between Land & Sea). The film was edited by Andrew Hearne (Unbreakable) and scored by Hugh Drumm (A Date for Mad Mary). Darragh McCarthy was DOP on the project and associate producers were Patrick Timmons Ward and Eoghan Liston. Post production took place at Outer Limits, Dun Laoghaire with Garry Curran (Room) colourist and Ciara Walsh post production supervisor. The film was mixed by Aza Hand at Egg Post Production.
