Acclaimed Documentary ‘Dancer’ Opens Cork Film Festival Tonight

'Dancer' Subject Sergei Polunin
The festival which runs from November 11th-20th is set to open this evening with the acclaimed portrayal of ballet dancer Sergei Polunin by the Oscar-nominated Steven Cantor.

Cantor’s depiction of the star follows what he has described as an attraction to those with obsessive elements to their lives. Polunin walked away from his career at its peak, at just twenty-five years of age, driven to self-destruction through by stardom.

Leading Irish titles at this year’s festival are ‘I Am Not a Serial Killer’ from Billy O’Brien, ‘In View’ from Ciaran Creagh and ‘Cardboard Gangsters from ‘Mark O’Connor.
