Mark O’Connor’s highly anticipated crime drama ‘Cardboard Gangsters’ has been picture-locked and is now entering the post-production phase, IFTN has learned.
It is expected the film will be fully completed by the end of June in time for the Galway Film Fleadh.
Tony Kearns is editing. Rushes processing, Grade (Nik Panteris), Online (Alan Sullivan) and Sound (Patrick Drummond, Aza Hand, Colm Mullaly and Katie O’Mahony) are being completed at EGG.
Speaking to IFTN, producer Richard Bolger said: "Cardboard Gangsters has now got to picture lock. It has been a long road for the project, a project at times that seemed undoable is now almost there. We are very excited about the film moving into the post production phase with the team at EGG. The team there have a lot of experience and we are excited about finishing the project under their care."
‘Cardboard Gangsters’ was directed by Mark O’Connor (‘King of the Travellers’, ‘Between the Canals', 'Stalker') and co-written by O'Connor and IFTA nominated actor John Connors (‘Love/Hate’). 'Cardboard Gangsters' shot for 18 days in Darndale and wrapped on September 29, 2015.
The film is being produced by Richard Bolger of Five Knight Films in association with Stalker Films and was funded by the BAI, Filmbase and TV3. TV3 have acquired the broadcast rights to the film.
Connors is also playing the lead role of Jay, the leader of a gang who move up the ranks of drug dealing in Darndale trying to take over control of the area from Derra’s (Jimmy Smallhorne) gang. Other cast on the project include Fionn Walton (‘What Richard Did’), Kierston Wareing (‘Fish Tank’), Damien Dempsey (‘Between the Canals’), Denise McCormack (‘Love/Hate’) Paul Roe, ('Adam and Paul'), Stephen Clinch ('Between the Canals') and Corey McKinley (‘71’).
Crew members include DoP Michael Lavelle, Production Designer Padraig O’Neill and Sound Recordist Karl Doyle.
Wildcard Distribution will be distributing the film in Ireland.
