RTÉ’s Format Farm returns looking for fresh programme ideas for RTÉ One and RTÉ2

RTÉ has announced this year’s call for Format Farm programme ideas for RTÉ One and RTÉ2.

Format Farm is an established RTÉ creative initiative run by RTÉ Global to support the production and broadcast of original TV formats for both Irish audiences and for export to international broadcasters.

The opening date for submissions for ideas for RTÉ One and RTÉ2 is today, Monday 15 February 2016, closing on Friday 8 April 2016.

To date, Format Farm has delivered original Irish TV formats that have travelled the globe such as ‘The Hit’ by Vision Independent Pictures which has been successfully optioned, aired and licensed in several international territories. ‘Whose Holiday Is It Anyway’ by Coco Productions has recently aired in Belgium with option agreements in place globally and ‘I’ve Got Your Back’ by Adare Productions has had a recent 10 part commission by RTÉ.

Michelle Spillane Director of RTÉ Global says: “RTÉ Format Farm continues to go from strength to strength since its inception and is a brilliant vehicle for showcasing the best on creativity for Irish formats internationally.”

To submit an new idea production companies will need to go through the e-commissioning process and identify the idea a Format Farm submission, specifying the relevant channel and category. All ideas will be reviewed by the relevant Genre Head and Head of Formats for consideration and they will make recommendations to the Channel Controllers.

By partnering with international distributors to part fund brilliant ideas, the Irish producers have an invested partner pushing their idea on the global media market.”
