Animated kids series ‘Puffin Rock’ won two awards for Best New Series and Best Animated Series at the Kidscreen Awards last night.
The Kidscreen Awards, now in its seventh edition, single out and celebrate the year’s best work in kids television programming and broadcasting, as well as digital media.
‘Puffin Rock’ comes from Kilkenny-based animation studio Cartoon Saloon, Derry-based children’s media company Dog Ears and global publisher Penguin.
The series is set on a beautiful island off the coast of Ireland. Oona is a charismatic and plucky young puffling, who along with her ever-curious little brother Baba, explores the diverse array of sea, sky, land and underground creatures. The show is narrated in English by Chris O’Dowd (‘Moone Boy’, ‘The IT Crowd’).
‘Puffin Rock’ was financed by the Irish Film Board, Northern Ireland Screen, RTÉ, Nickelodeon UK, HOP! And YLE.
