Produced by Motive Television, six part documentary series ‘The Notorious’ will be shown worldwide after selling to international territories.
The series, which aired on RTÉ2 earlier this year to critical acclaim, follows UFC fighter Conor McGregor and his meteoric rise, as he gets even closer to becoming UFC world champion.
SBS Australia, FOX SPORTS Australia, FOX Netherlands, BBC BRIT for Scandinavia, Poland and Africa, Qatar Airlines, Thai Airlines and Emirates and NRK Norway have all acquired the sports documentary series.
The show is directed by Patrick Timmons Ward, filmed by Gavin Fitzgerald, edited by Mick Mahon, associate producer is Graeme McDonnell, Executive Producers are Anne McLoughlin & Conor McGregor and the Series Producer is Jamie D'Alton.
Speaking to IFTN, Series Producer Jamie D’Alton said: “We are delighted with the international interest in 'The Notorious'. We are all very proud of the series which gave audiences unique access to one of the world's most charismatic sportspeople. The sales demonstrate both the quality of the series and the global appeal for Conor McGregors unique blend of talent, personality and self-belief. It was a big team effort and a big thanks to series director Patrick Timmons Ward, DOP Gavin Fitzgerald, editor Mick Mahon, associate producer Graeme McDonnell and Executive Producers Anne McLoughlin & Conor McGregor."
Bill Malone, Channel Controller RTÉ2 said: “The international success of ‘The Notorious’ is a perfect example of how quality programming, originally conceived and produced for RTÉ2’s audience, can also hit home with international audiences in diverse territories all across the globe.”
"The bottom line is it’s a great story, well told, featuring an amazing character. It’s great to see it getting the attention it deserves on a worldwide stage.”
