‘Rubaí to air on TG4 on Easter Sunday
31 Mar 2015 : Seán Brosnan
The award-winning 11 minute drama is directed by Louise Ni Fhiannachta
Louise Ni Fhiannachta’s ‘Rubai’ will air on Easter Sunday on TG4 at 8.05pm.

‘Rubai’ was written by Antoin Beag O'Colla and produced by Gemma O'Shaughnessy for Magamedia Teo. The 11 minute drama, starring Doireann Ní Fhoighil, Bridín Nic Dhonncha, Dara Devaney and Donncha Crowley, centres on eight-year-old Rúbaí who refuses to be part of her fast approaching First Holy Communion. She’s an atheist and proud of it, but faces emotional blackmail, religious and philosophical debate, and overt intolerance in today’s supposedly diverse and modern Ireland.

‘Rubai’ was edited by Ronnie Quinlan and executive produced by Paddy Hayes. Cathal Watters acted as cinematographer with Ray Harman composing. ‘Rubai’ was funded under the Irish Film Board’s Gearrscannáin short-film scheme and also had its New York premiere at Tribeca last year before going on to win Best Short Film at Belfast and Foyle, as well as winning Best First Short at the Galway Film Fleadh the year before.

2015 has also saw the short continue its’ awards success as it has just won the Programmer's Choice Award for Best Short at the 39th Cleveland International Film Festival.

‘Rubaí’ will air on TG4 on Easter Sunday at 8.05pm.
