Northern Irish short film ‘Boogaloo and Graham’ has won the BAFTA Award for Best Short Film.
‘Boogaloo and Graham’, written by Ronan Blaney, directed by Michael Lennox and produced by Brian J Falconer of Out of Orbit Productions is set in 1970’s Belfast and follows the story of two young boys who discover the facts of life with the help of their pet chickens.
The film stars Charlene McKenna (‘Ripper Street’) and Martin McCann (‘The Survivalist’) playing the roles of the young boy’s parents who announce they are expecting another child.
The film is also nominated for an Oscar – the ceremony of which will take place in Los Angeles on Feb 22nd - with the filmmakers hoping to emulate the success of Terry George’s Oscar-winning short ‘The Shore’ which won in 2012.
The BAFTA Awards – this year hosted by Stephen Fry – is the biggest event on the British film award calendar with the Stephen Hawking biopic ‘The Theory of Everything’ winning Outstanding British Film on the night. Irish Production Designer John Paul Kelly was responsible for the set design on the film – read IFTN’s interview with him here.
