30 Jun 2014 : Deirdre Molumby
Universal has released the official trailer for ‘Dracula Untold’, the debut feature of Irish director Gary Shore. The action-adventure relates the origin story of the man who became the world’s most famous vampire - Dracula. The film is written by Matt Sazama, Burk Sharpless and Mark Bomback, and produced by Michael de Luca. Alissa Phillips and Joe Caracciolo are executive producers.

Luke Evans, best-known for his role as Bard in Peter Jackson’s ‘The Hobbit’ saga (and was recently added to the cast of ‘High Rise’), will play the lead, Vlad Tepes. A strong warrior in human form, Vlad becomes more powerful as a vampire, which he transforms into to protect his family. Dominic Cooper plays Mehmed, the villain, and the film co-stars Sarah Gadon, Samantha Banks, and Charles Dance. Irish main cast members include Diarmuid Murtagh and Art Parkinson.

Lorde provides the eerie soundtrack to the trailer with her cover of Tears for Fears’ ‘Everybody Wants to Rule the World,’ a song recorded for ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.’

It was recently announced that the film will be released globally through IMAX.

‘Dracula Untold’ is in post-production and is currently scheduled for release in Irish cinemas on October 3rd, 2014. It will be released in the US on October 17.
