Reminder Call for Submissions to Cinemagic Film Festival for Young People

Cinemagic Belfast International Film Festival for Young People 2014 will take place in autumn with the Children’s Programme (audience age of under 12) from the 3rd-17th of October and the Teenage Programme (audience age of 12-25) on the 17th-28th of November. Cinemagic has issued a call for entries to the main festival (not Young Filmmakers).

Cinemagic is an international film festival for young people based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. It was established in 1989 and over the last 25 years it has developed a worldwide reputation for excellence in children’s and youth programming and is currently the largest children’s film festival in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

The festival funded by Northern Ireland Screen and supported by DCAL includes international film screenings, movie premieres, film education programmes, industry Q&As, filmmaking competitions and masterclasses in all aspects of the film and television industry.

Cinemagic is a competitive festival for:

  • Best feature and short film for a young adult audience as judged by a jury of young people aged 15 -18
  • Best feature and short film for a teenage audience as judged by a jury of young people aged 12 -14
  • Best feature and short film for a youth audience as judged by a jury of young people aged 8 -11
  • Best feature and best short film for a children’s audience as judged by a jury of young people aged 6 -7

Films made within the years 2012 – 2014 are eligible for competition. We are interested in all types of films and programmes for children and young people from preschool through to young adult.

To enter, send a DVD (PAL) preview, either in English or with English subtitles, and a completed entry form to: Chris Shaw, Festival Programmer, Cinemagic, 49 Botanic Avenue, Belfast, BT7 1JL, Northern Ireland

Alternatively online screeners are accepted and entry forms can be emailed to: chris@cinemagic.org.uk

The deadline for submissions is 21st July 2014
