Irish actor Emmet J Scanlan will be back on our screens in May as the BBC announces the return of its zombie drama ‘In the Flesh’.
The series, which aired its 3-episode first season last year on BBC Three and later on BBC America, takes place after a zombie semi-apocalypse. Created by Dominic Mitchell, the drama centres on teenager Kieren Walker, played by Luke Newberry, a PDS (Partially Deceased Syndrome) sufferer who tries to find acceptance in a world divided by former zombies.
Scanlan, who is currently filming ‘The Fall’ in Belfast, will join the second series as the sickle character of the Undead Prophet Simon. Other cast members include Luke Newberry (The Legend of Hercules), Emily Bevan (St. Trinian’s), Stephen Thompson (Doctors), Kenneth Cranham (Layer Cake), Kevin Sutton (Shameless), Gillian Waugh (The Damned United) and Wunmi Mosaku (Dancing on the Edge.
The six-part second season is a BBC America co-production with BBC Drama Production North. It will once again follow Walker as he navigates being a teenager and a reformed zombie with the radical Pro-Living Party, Victus.
Season 2 of ‘In the Flash’ premieres on BBC Three in the first week of May (date TBC), ahead of its US transmission on May 10. Season 1 is currently available on Amazon and iTunes.
