‘Traders’ and ‘The Spider’s Trap’ Join ‘Glassland’ in Production in and around Dublin.
Rachel Moriarty and Peter Murphy of Buckshee Productions have written and are directing ‘Traders’, starring Killian Scott (Love/Hate) and John Bradley (GOT) and produced for Coco Television. The debut feature film is a ‘dark thriller’.
Alan Walsh’s ‘Spider’s Trap’ commenced shooting on the 25th January, and is a Blackhorse Film Production. The film features Liam Carney, Dermot McGuinness, Glen Baker, Tony Tormey, Simon Delaney, Tommy O’Neill and Alan Sherlock. Walsh’s previous work includes ‘Mystic Knights’ (as 2nd unit director), director of award winning short-film ‘What If’, stunt co-ordinator and military advisor on films including 'The Wind That Shakes The Barley’.
Gerard Barrett’s ‘Glassland’, starring Jack Reynor, continues its shoot in and around Dublin, and stars Jack Reynor and Toni Colette. The film is produced by Element Pictures. (see the full story here).
Element Pictures, in an Irish-Greek co-production, begins shooting ‘The Lobster’ in March, starring Colin Farrell and Rachel Weisz (see here for casting news in relation to the film). In April, Parallel’s production of ‘Brooklyn’ starring Saoirse Ronan and Domhnall Gleeson will begin filming in April in Wexford and Canada. The film is an adaptation by Nick Hornby of Colm Toibin's novel, and will be directed by John Crowley.
For drama, ‘Penny Dreadful’ will finish its five-month shoot at the studios in Bray in March and ‘The Fall’ starts shooting its second season in Belfast this month.
