Digital Biscuit brings together film-enthusiasts and creatives across new media for screenings, discussions, workshops, demonstrations and talks. The three key strands across the event are ‘The Talks’, with speakers aiming to foster ideas across a range of topics; ‘The Works’, a series of workshops for learning and networking, and ‘Kinoplay’, demonstrations, showcases and product presentations.
Birch Hamilton, Executive Director of SDGI, told IFTN today that “Digital Biscuit showcases Ireland for all the technology it has to offer. Ireland is a global leader in film and technology; this is consistently proven by the way it embraces new technologies such as 3D and VFX.”
Irish based speakers who will be attending the event include writer/director Jim Sheridan; casting director Maureen Hughes, Tomm Moore (Cartoon Saloon).
The two day digital event will also put the spotlight on Denmark with speakers including The Einstein Couple; international interviews and discussions by skype include Alan Taylor, American TV and film director of ‘Mad Men’, ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘Boardwalk Empire’; and Jamie Wilkinson, Co-Founder/CEO of VHX.
Fernanda Parente, Digital Biscuit programme manager, emphasised the positive response from last year’s event and that this year they want to push the bar even higher with a variety of speakers that people can learn from; “All the speakers are really enthusiastic about coming to Ireland.”
These film and television production professionals will take part in a number of industry talks and expositions. The opening screening will be the Irish premiere of the Coen’s ‘Inside Llewyn Davis’, on Wednesday 22nd January at 8pm in the IFI.
